Software for concrete cutting businesses, built around your docket

Core Docket gives concrete cutting businesses, from one operator to a crew of any size, their own docket on the phone. Your crew fill in your own docket on their phone, your rate card prices every cut and core hole, and the signed docket becomes a draft invoice for your accounting suite. You spend the afternoon checking work and getting invoices out, with the docket book retyping left behind.

Free for a month, no credit card. Every feature included: no tiers, no add-ons, free updates.

Your docket, on the crew's phone

We rebuild the paper docket book you already use, so the crew see the same questions in the same order.

The same docket, rebuilt

Send us a photo of your docket book page and we rebuild it: the job details, the work done, the safety questions, your terms and the signature box. A separate slurry and waste docket can sit beside it.

Work picked from your price list

The operator picks the work from your own sections, for example Flat sawing, 150mm, concrete, and types the metres. They never look up a rate or write a price.

Signed and photographed on site

The site contact signs on the phone and photos attach to the docket. If nobody is there to sign, the crew can mark the customer absent and still finish, when your docket includes that option.

Saw cuts and core holes priced the way you measure them

Concrete cutting is priced by measurement, so the rate card is the centre of Core Docket. Saw cuts are priced per metre by depth and material. Core holes are priced by diameter and depth, often per 10mm of depth inside a diameter band such as up to 150mm. Wall sawing, track sawing, hand sawing, chasing and labour each have their own section.

Loadings are worked out for you. An option can be priced as another option plus a percentage: electric sawing at petrol +50%, suspended slab at +20%, horizontal coring at +25% and inverted at +100% of vertical. When you raise the vertical rate, the others move with it. "How many" is its own question, so three cuts of 12 metres bill as a quantity of 3 and six identical holes bill as 6 holes.

Minimum charges are built in. A core hole can carry a minimum depth, so a 60mm-deep hole under a "minimum price 100mm deep" rule bills as 100mm. A section can have a set-up or establishment fee, charged once per docket when that section is used, and a section minimum across its lines. Builders on agreed rates go on their own price group, and single prices can be overridden for one customer.

An example docket, priced

A morning job: a slab cut and two sets of core holes. Every rate here is an example only.

Line on the docketMeasurementExample rateExample price
Flat sawing, concrete, 150mm deep24 m$14.00 per m$336.00
Core holes, up to 100mm, vertical, 200mm deep6 holes × 200mm$3.20 per 10mm$384.00
Core holes, up to 150mm, inverted (+100%), 250mm deep2 holes × 250mm$8.00 per 10mm$400.00
Total for the docket$1,120.00 ex GST

Example figures only. Your own rates are loaded from your price list. The inverted rate is worked out as the vertical rate of $4.00 per 10mm plus 100%.

Minimum charges, after-hours and the unbilled-time check

The charges that go missing from paper dockets are the ones Core Docket works out from the job itself.

  • A company-wide minimum charge per visit, for example $300, tops up a small job so a quick core hole still bills the callout.
  • Higher minimums apply by time window, worked out from the job's actual start and finish times. For example, $550 for work outside 7am to 3:30pm on weekdays and on weekends. The crew never choose the rate.
  • Callout fees, levies and surcharges can apply to every docket, to one price group or to one section, as a dollar amount or a percentage.
  • Each priced line knows roughly how long it takes. At the end of the docket, time on site is compared with the work recorded, and a gap shows while the crew are still on site, so standby, travel or clean-up can go on as lines before they leave.
  • See minimum charges and after-hours for how to set them up.

From the signed docket to your accounting suite

  1. 01

    The customer gets their copy

When the docket is finished, a PDF on your letterhead is emailed to the customer, with any extra recipients you add. You choose field by field what they see, and office-only notes stay off their copy. Your terms can sit on the docket for them to accept before signing.

  2. 02

    A draft invoice is waiting

Finishing the docket creates a draft invoice from its priced lines. You check it, adjust anything that needs it and send it. A line at $0 is flagged as having no price yet, so nothing goes out unpriced by accident.

  3. 03

One invoice for a month of work

For a builder who wants one invoice, filter dockets by customer and dates, tick them and put them on a single invoice. A job run over several days adds each day's docket to the same draft.

  4. 04

    Sent to your accounts

The invoice goes to your accounting suite with your account codes and GST codes, as a draft or approved, and the invoice your customer receives comes from there. See which accounting suites connect today. If you use other accounting software, Core Docket builds the connection where it's possible.

The schedule board and safety

A week by person

The schedule board lays out the week by operator, with unscheduled jobs beside it. Drag a job to another person or day, put two or three people on one job, and see a double booking flagged. Changes show on the crew's phone when they next open the app.

Bookings that carry what the site needs

A booking can require a PO or order number, remembers each customer's site contacts, and shows on a map with the travel between jobs. Job numbers can carry on from your last docket book.

SWMS and pre-starts

SWMS sign-on, Take 5, toolbox talks and saw and rig pre-starts are included at no extra cost, along with timesheets and the asset register. Your own SWMS can be uploaded as a PDF or Word file for the crew to read and sign.

Questions

What is the best software for a concrete cutting business?

Look for software that prices work by the metre, the depth and the hole, records a signed docket on site and sends invoices to your accounting suite. Core Docket was built for concrete cutting first and does all three.

Can Core Docket price saw cuts by depth and metre?

Yes. Each sawing section is priced per metre by depth and material, and loadings such as electric or suspended slab are worked out as a percentage of the base rate. The crew pick the cut and type the metres, and the price is worked out for them.

Do my crew need to download an app?

No. Core Docket runs in the phone's browser and can be added to the home screen so it opens like an app. There is no App Store or Google Play download.

Does the docket go to our accounting software?

Yes. The finished docket becomes a draft invoice that you check and send to your accounting suite with your account and GST codes. See which accounting suites connect today.

How long does it take to set up?

You send us your price list and a page from your docket book, and we load the prices, rebuild the docket and add your letterhead at no charge. You check it before your crew start using it, and the first month is free with no card.

Can Core Docket charge after-hours minimums automatically?

Yes. A minimum charge can apply only in certain time windows or on certain days, for example outside 7am to 3:30pm on weekdays. It is worked out from the job's actual times, so the crew do not choose it.
