Digital job sheets that turn into the invoice

Some businesses call it a docket, some call it a job sheet. Core Docket is a job sheet app for trade businesses with a crew in the field and an office that invoices, from one person to a crew of any size. Work charged by the hour, the item, the metre, the hole or the load is priced as the crew fill the job sheet in.

Free for a month, no credit card. Every feature included: no tiers, no add-ons, free updates.

What makes a good job sheet

A job sheet is only useful if the office can invoice from it without a phone call.

What was done, measured

Each piece of work with its size and amount: two loads of waste taken away, four hours of labour, or on a cutting job 31 m of slab cut at 150 deep. The crew enter the numbers, so nobody in the office has to interpret a description.

When and where

The site, the PO or order number, the people on the job and the actual start and finish times. Those times are what after-hours and minimum charges are worked from.

Who agreed to it

The customer's signature, their acceptance of your terms, and photos of the finished work. That is what settles a question about the invoice three weeks later.

Priced the way your work is charged

Trade work is charged in more ways than hours. Labour goes by the hour, fittings by the item, waste by the load, and concrete cutting by what was cut: diameter and depth for a core hole, metres and depth for a saw cut, with minimums per hole and set-up fees on top. Core Docket was built to handle pricing as involved as that, so the job sheet asks for the measurement and the price follows from your rate card.

A fixed-price item works the same way: the crew pick it, and its price comes from the rate card. Whatever the trade, the customer signs for what was done and the office invoices from it. Job sheets come with everything else in the one Core Docket plan, with every feature included and no add-ons.

What goes on a Core Docket job sheet

Your job sheet is built to match your business. We set it up with you.

  • The questions you ask now, in your order and your words.
  • Priced work lines the crew pick from, with the measurement each one needs.
  • Checkboxes, yes or no questions, notes and photos.
  • Safety checks, including questions that stop the job sheet on the wrong answer.
  • Your terms and conditions, accepted before the customer signs.
  • The customer's signature, or "customer absent" if your form allows it.
  • Office-only fields that never appear on the customer's copy.

How a job sheet becomes the invoice

  1. 01

    Booked

The office books the job on the schedule with the site, contact and PO number, and the crew see it on their phone.

  2. 02

    Filled in on site

The crew record the work as they go. If time on site does not match the work recorded, they are shown the gap before they leave, so standby or clean-up can be added.

  3. 03

    Signed and sent

The customer signs, and a PDF copy of the job sheet on your letterhead is emailed to them.

  4. 04

    Invoiced

A draft invoice is created from the priced lines. You check it and push it to your accounting suite. See which accounting suites connect today.

Questions

Is a job sheet the same as a docket in Core Docket?

Yes. Core Docket calls it a docket, and it is the same record many trades call a job sheet: what was done, measured, signed for by the customer and turned into an invoice.

Can I use my own job sheet layout?

Yes. We rebuild your existing job sheet with your questions, checks and terms, and you can change it later in Settings.

Does the job sheet work out the price?

Yes. The crew pick the work and enter the measurement, and the price comes from your rate card, including minimums per unit.

Which trades is the job sheet app built for?

It suits any trade business with a crew in the field and an office that invoices, from one person to a crew of any size. It started in concrete cutting and core drilling, which have some of the hardest pricing in trade work.

Does the customer get a copy of the job sheet?

Yes. When the job sheet is finished, a PDF on your letterhead is emailed to the customer, showing only the fields you have chosen for them.
